Welcome Alberta Owens, 81, of Rush Springs, Okla., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, in Rush Springs, Okla.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1922, in Wellington, Texas, to Dr. W.L. and Sallie Bean Gray.

She married Albert Monroe Owens in July of 1941 in Levelland, Texas.

She was a member of the Methodist church in Bolivar, Mo. She attended school in Wellington, Texas. She graduated from Wellington Texas High School with the Class of 1939. She lived in Bolivar, Mo. from 1973 until 1995 and Clovis from 1957 until 1970 before moving to the Rush Springs area in 1995.

She retired from Bernard-Brewer, in Lubbock as a bookkeeper, in 1990. She was a hospital volunteer. Family members said she enjoyed her work and enjoyed golf. She attended Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs, Okla. She was the last of 14 children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 13 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Monty Owens (and wife, Dixie) of Tyler, Texas; two grandchildren, Cody Owens of Albuquerque and Colt Owens of Portales; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Owens, Cheyanne Owens and Amber Owens; three step-grandchildren, Bryan Stilwell of Palestine, Texas, Don Stilwell of Waco, Texas and Debra Dowden of New London, Texas; and nine step-great-grandchilren.
