Rush Springs - ALBERT MONROE OWENS, 92, of Rush Springs, Okla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in Chickasha, Okla.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, with the Rev. Greg Brooks officiating.
Burial will be in Wellington (Texas) Cemetery.

ALBERT MONROE OWENS, 92, Rush Springs, Okla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in Chickasha, Okla.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, with Rev. Greg Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Wellington Cemetery (Memorial Gardens Cemetery) in Wellington, Texas, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Monroe was born Saturday, April 22, 1916, in Rush Springs, to Henry Thomas Owens and Florence Long Owens. Monroe had lived in Rush Springs since 1994. He attended Vimy Ridge and Arnet High School. He then attended college at Southwestern Teachers College in Weatherford, Okla. He married Welcome Alberta "Bert" Gray on July 28, 1941, in Levelland, Texas. She preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2004.
Monroe worked as a Hospital Administrator from 1948-1970 at Clovis (N.M.) Memorial Hospital, and previous to that he owned and operated a ranch in Bolivar, Mo. He enjoyed feeding and taking care of his animals. Monroe attended the First Methodist Church in Rush Springs.
Survivors include a son, Monty and wife Dixie Owens of Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren, Cody and wife Cindy Owens, Colt Owens, Debra Dowden and husband Bruce, Bryan Stillwell, and Don Stillwell and wife Dana; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charley Owens and wife Helen of Sherman, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Evan Owens and H.T. Owens; and three sisters, Ida, Auretta, and Oleta.
