Opal O. Bowen died Thursday, December 17, 1987, in Lubbock.

Committal services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 20, at Memorial Gardens followed by memorial services at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Bruce, pastor, officiating.

Arrangements were by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.

Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Cummings, Shelton Nunnelley, Earl Patterson, Robert Barjenbruch, Alvin Horton, Oran Starkey, John Horton and Virgil Breedlove.

Mrs. Bowen was born April 5, 1914 at Mangum, Oklahoma.

Her parents were Dr. William L. Gray and Sallie Bean Gray. She married Earl Andy Bowen on May 30, 1930, at Altus, Okla.

Mr. Bowen died on December 13, 1978.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bowen had been a Wellington resident for 57 years.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Elouise Lewis of Lubbock; a son, LaDwain Bowen of El Centro, California; one brother, Ollie Gray of Springfield, Missouri.; four sisters, Effie Jones of Stephenville; Nellie Young of Ft. Worth, Myrtle Stephens of Amarillo and Alberta Owens of Boliver, Missouri.; three grandchildren Jeffrey Lewis of Tena, Ecuador, Andrea Bowen of El Centro, Calif.; Darrell Bowen of San Diego, California, and one great-grandchild.
