Reburial services for Flight Lt Dixie Jackson, son of Mr & Mrs Lute B Jackson of Ringling were held Thursday April 21, 1949.
Lt Jackson was killed July 14, 1943 while escorting bombers on a raid to Amiens Airdrome (previously incorrectly listed Le Bourget airfield raid in the Paris, France suburbs).
Prior to joining the U S Air Force as an Eighth Air Force fighter pilot, he served in the Royal Air Force where he flew Spitfire airplanes.
Lt Jackson was the first president and a charter member of the Ringling Future Farmers of America in 1936. He was also the senior class president in 1936.
Lt Jackson is survived by his wife, Mildred Shrader Jackson, and a son, Dixie Joe Jackson, both of Healdton, OK. Other survivors are sisters Mrs. Vida Dillard, Ringling; Mrs Jacque Ellison, Rosebud, Tx; Mrs Monte Ebey, Ada; Mrs Ouida Hamilton, Long Beach, Ca; and brothers L B Jackson Jr Ringling; Cub Jackson, Hawthorne, Ca; Dana B Jackson Ringling. He was preceded in death by a brother, Waltine Jackson in 1935.
