Eckhart Wegner, 48, of Onaga, passed away unexpectedly shortly before noon Tuesday, January 12, at Community Hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital a few hours before his death. He was born on the Wegner home place near Onaga on September 3, 1916.
Survivors include one son, Larry Wegner of Portland, Ore.; six brothers, M. A. Wegner, Elroy Wegner and Rando Wegner, all of Onaga, Erwin Wegner of Wamego, Quincy Wegner of Madison, Kans., and Oliver Wegner of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Mrs. Levi Hodge of Onaga, Mrs. O. A. Hayes of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Oscar Knipp of Vermillion and Mrs. Glenn Wahl of Blaine, and a host of other relatives.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending arrival of relatives.

Eckhart Walter Wegner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Wegner, was born September 3, 1916 on a farm near Onaga, Kansas. He was baptized at St. Luke's Lutheran Church southwest of Onaga on October 1, 1916. Here he received his Christian training and was received into communicant membership with St. Luke by the rite of confirmation August 7, 1932.
In 1940 he was married to Lela Applegate. This union was blessed with one son Larry.
Eckhart had been ill health the past year. He entered the hospital early Tuesday morning, January 12 and passed away shortly before noon at the age of 48 years, four months and nine days.
His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his departure his son, Larry; a daughter-in-law, Audrey, and two grandchildren of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Nada Knipp, Vermillion, Delta Hodge, Onaga, Delia Hayes, Phoenix, Ariz., and Orlene Wahl Blaine; six brothers, Mefir Elroy and Rando of Onaga, Quincy of Madison, Oliver of Portland, Ore.; and Erwin of Wamego; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Tessendorf Chapel at Onaga on Friday, January 15, 1965, conducted by the Rev. J. W. A. Becker. Pallbearers were Kenneth Graf, Herbert Knipp, Roy Stephenson, Kurt Wegner, Armon Bosse, and Glenn Berges. Burial was in the Onaga cemetery.
