Lester H. Balken, 61, Green Acres Trailer Court, died Oct. 6 at St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dan C. Abrahams officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Garden.

Mr. Balken was born in Wilkin County Aug. 8, 1916, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Balken. On Sept. 20, 1946, he married Marjorie Thorn of Elizabeth. After their marriage, they did a lot of traveling while he worked as a boilermaker for the Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company. Since 1965 they had made their home at Fergus Falls. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Debrah) Schweich, Necedah, Wis!; two sons, Mark and Todd, both of Fergus Falls; two grandchildren; his father, Fergus Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Evelyn) Bilden, Rothsay; Mrs. Morris (Eunice) Bergerud, Fergus Falls; Mrs. Robert (Jane) Griffin, Seattle, and Mrs. Donald (Clarice) Barrett, Portland, Ore.; eight brothers, William, Roy and Ernest, all of Rothsay; Leonard and Fred, both of Fergus Falls; Jerome, Renton, Wash.; Loren, Faribault, and Vernon, Minneapolis.

Visitation will be all day Sunday and evening, and Monday morning at the Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
