Early Life: Jane was born September 27, 1925, in Rothsay, Minnesota, to Julius John and Emma Fosse Balken, the tenth of their fourteen children.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: At age 18, she left Minnesota and moved to Seattle, Washington, meeting Robert Barney Griffin, the love of her life. They married May 4, 1944, and had six children: David Robert, Dennis Michael, Linda Carol, Teresa Ann, Cynthia Jeanne and Colleen Marie. In October of 1956, they became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bob and Jane served in the Seattle Washington Temple for 19 years and three years in the Boise Idaho Temple, which Jane stated was a highlight of her life. She loved sharing stories of growing up on the farm and her travels with Bob throughout the world. Jane Carol Balken Griffin passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, March 8, 2019. She was 93.
Survived By: All six children, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one brother, Loren Balken. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
