Louis "Lou" W. Gerdes, 75 of Dixon, Ill., formerly of Anamosa, died Friday, Oct 10, 1997, in his home after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dixon, by the Rev. Cynthia Stengel, Burial: Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Dixon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, Todd of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Terri (Michael) Kornowski of West Allis, Wis., and TyAnne (Bradley) Schmidt of Crystal lake, Ill.; a brother Garrett (Janice) of Anamosa; five sisters, Gertrude Nost of Cedar Rapids, Frances Brodersen of Olin, Marie Till of Bellevue, Helen (Ralph) Bender of Tustin, Calif., and Joyce Joslyn of Coralville; and three grandchildren.
Born Aug 10, 1922 in Anamosa, a son of Garrett and Louise Andersen Gerdes, he married Ruth V. Dirks Oct 10, 1944, in Monticello. He was a supervisor at Lawrence Brothers, Sterling, Ill., before his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dixon.
A memorial fund has been established.
