February 7, 1980

Idabel Templeton Minter, 68, a member of a family long prominent in Wellington's development, died in Dallas Friday, January 18, 1980.

She was the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. R.H. Templeton, and a sister of Judge R.L. Templeton.

Before she retired about 6 years ago, Mrs. Minter worked for many years in the classified advertising department of the Dallas Times-Herald. Prior to that, she was with Zales in Dallas. At the beginning of World War II Mrs. Minter, wanting to do what she could in behalf of the defense of the United States, went to work for North American Aviation on its assembly line.

She was born in Wellington October 14, 1911, and was named for her grandmother, Ida Gresham, the wife of the founder of the Farmers Union. She graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1929 and attended Texas Technological College.

She was married to Joe Minter in 1931. He died in 1977. They lived in Pickton, near Sulphur Springs, many years.

Mrs. Minter retained a lasting interest in the town where she grew up, and in the Wellington Ex-Students reunion, which she attended as often as she could.

Survivors are 5 children; Dr. Joe Bob Minter of Mississippi; Barbara Shields of Grapevine, Mary Ann Pleasant of Garland, Tom Minter of Dallas and Sally Roushey of Mesquite; a brother, Judge R.L. Templeton of Wellington; and a sister, Mrs, Lois Scott of Sulphur Springs.

Two cousins living in Wellington are Mrs. L.C. Hill and Mrs. Ralph Long.
