Maria Alida was the second of five children of Cleophus Dufour (1852-abt. 1890) and Caroline Tassin (1858-1934). She had two brothers (Jules and Wilmore) and two sisters (Annie Lou and Marie Aline). On Jan. 25, 1879, she was baptized by Rev. P. E. Simon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville LA. Her sponsors were Aldige Mayeux and Elisa Guillory; on p. 63 of the church baptism book, the priest spells her name Maria Alidia. Aldige Mayeux was the uncle of her mother Caroline Tassin, raised with Caroline by his grandmother (and Caroline's mother) Féroline Bordelon after he was orphaned by the death of Féroline's son Jerome B. Mayeux.

On Dec. 6, 1898, Alida married Arthur Coco (b. 1877). The marriage is recorded at Sacred Heart Church in Moreauville and was performed by Rev. Constantine Brahic; witnesses were Jules Dufour (Maria's brother), Nestor Normand, and Charles J. Bordelon. The couple had eight children and Alida appears to have died during or shortly after the birth of her last child, Willie James Coco, born on April 27, 1913 in Bordelonville. All of her children but one survived into adulthood: Irma Marie (1900-1969), Marie Lily (1901-before 1910), Lena Caroline (1902-1985), Cora Agnes (1904-1969), Carol (Carrie) (1907-1968), Arthur Felix Jr. (1908-1953), Marie Lillie Belle (1910-1998), and Willie James (1913-1995).

Alida's burial information remains unknown, but it is likely she was buried in the graveyard of Sacred Heart in Moreauville, among her many kin.
