Marie Anne, who died in infancy, was the third of four children of Caroline Tassin (1859-1934) and her second husband Stephen Edward Segrue (1858-1901). Her father would die in a hunting accident only two years later. Marie's siblings were Thomas Arthur Segrue (1894-1966), Edna Florence Segrue Yarborough (1897-1982), and Lescietta Mary (Etta Leslie) Segrue Gray Lee (1900-1989). Marie Anne also had seven half siblings from her mother's first marriage to Cleophas Dufour (1852-1890).
