Eugene R. Sites, 69, of 842 Iron Springs Road, Fairfield, died Tuesday morning at the Gettysburg Hospital.
He was born in Adams County, the son of the late Milton and Alice Staley Sites. His wife, Ruth Harbaugh Sites, died in 1987.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was an extraordinary minister. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army. He was a foreman at the GAF plant in Blue Ridge Summit for 30 years, retiring in 1985, and was a member of the Fairfield AMVETS, VFW Post No. 15, and the Emmitsburg American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by six sons, Robert Sites, Gary Sites, Michael Sites, Stephen Sites and James Sites, all of Fairfield; and Charles Sites of Gettysburg; four daughters, Mary Jo Richardson, Waynesborough; Joan Ritter and Bernadette McClain, of Fairfield; Rebecca Staples, of Orrtana; 41 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; five sisters Adaline Harbaugh and Alice Harbaugh, of Fairfield; Lillian Bream, of Baltimore; Mary Schlager, of Lancaster; Charlotte Tyler, of Smithsburg, Md.; and one brother, John Sites, of Bethlehem; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, meeting at the Monahan Funeral Home, Fairfield, at 9:30 a.m. to go to St. Mary's Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Celebrant will be Father Robert Kobularik. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., with the Rosary at 8 p.m. Donations can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fairfield.
