Wilmer was born in Rayne Twp., Indiana Co., PA, the son of Irvin Kinter Mears and "Ellen" Mary Ellen Manner. He married Ida Sturgeon. He drowned accidentally while bathing in Lake Milton (Milton Twp.), Mahoning Co., OH.

Former Tanoma Man Met Death Sunday--Other Deaths.

Wilmer Mears, 41 years old, of Youngstown, O., a native of Indiana County, was drowned Sunday night in Lake Milton, near Youngstown.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Mears, of near Tanoma, Rayne township.

He is survived by his parents; six brothers: Holmes Mears, whose whereabouts is unknown; Clair Mears, of Indiana; James, Charles and William Mears, all of near Tanoma; and Quay Mears, at home; and two sisters: Mrs. Mary Campbell, of Johnstown, and Mrs. Mabel Shugarts [sic], of Girard, O.

Funeral services will be held in the home of his parents near Tanoma at 2 p. m. standard time Thursday with burial in the Ruffner Cemetery.
