Mr. ROBERT E. SANDERS, 80, of Keadle Road, Boonsboro, MD, died Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, Md. Born December 3, 1938 in Greenstone, PA, he was the son of the late Milford and Geneva (Harbaugh) Sanders.
He served with the U.S. National Guard at various locations for nearly 10 years. Mr. Sanders worked at Frick Company, Waynesboro, as a machinist. He retired after more than 38 years of service with the company. He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post #42, Hagerstown and enjoyed woodworking, including selling his items at craft shows and traveling with his partner, Christine.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Christine; four children, Brenda Gatten, Teresa Brennan, Robert Sanders, and Crystal Ambush; 10 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Sanders of Cascade, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Sanders; one sister, Mary Meek; and one brother, Francis Sanders.
Services will be held at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Burial will be held in Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Knoxville, Md.
