OBITUARY :
MRS. MARY E. (SANDERS) MEEK, 79, of 214 C Elder Ave., Waynesboro, died, Thursday afternoon, May 19, 2016, in the Chambersburg Hospital, following a short illness.

Born August 7, 1936 in Greenstone, PA, she was the daughter of the late Milford George and Geneva Grace (Harbaugh) Sanders.

Mrs. Meek attended Monterey School in Blue Ridge Summit, PA and Washington Township High School.

She and her husband, the late Mr. James E. "Jim" "Pap" Meek, Sr., were married November 25, 1954 in Highfield, MD. Mr. Meek passed away May 6, 2005. She moved to her present residence in 2005.

Mrs. Meek was employed at Gettysburg Shoe Factory and Regency Thermographers, Waynesboro. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she was employed in the mailroom at Tab Books, Blue Ridge Summit, for 30 years.

She was a life member of Blue Ridge Fire and Rescue, Blue Ridge Summit.

Mrs. Meek enjoyed watching professional wrestling and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

She is survived by three children, Debbie Ainsworth and her fiancé, David Bloom of Blue Ridge Summit, James E. Meek, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Waynesboro, and Michael W. Meek of Cumberland, MD; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy P. Sanders of Cascade and Robert E. Sanders of State Line, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle D. Downin, who died on September 17, 2011; and one brother, Francis R. Sanders.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. Mark Hosler officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M, Monday evening, and one hour prior to the services, Tuesday morning, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Blue Ridge Summit Fire and Rescue, 13063 Monterey Lane, Blue Ridge Summit, PA, 17214 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
