Katherine was married in 1933 to Charles Henry Rhinehart in the rectory of the Immaculate Conception Church in Memphis, TN. The marriage ended in 1937.
Kate worked at a number of positions beginning in 1938. What she enjoyed the most was working with people and in 1946, she opened her own personnel service, Kate Floyd Employment Counselors. Kate used her talent for poetry to write jingles that were used in advertising her service in the paper. The service focused on finding jobs primarily for women. In 1964, she closed her business and went to work for the Tom O’Ryan Advertising Company and stayed there until she retired in 1977 doing various functions from administrative to accounting.
Kate was a devote Catholic and attended mass everyday especially in her later years. She had 11 nieces and nephews and enjoyed time spent with her siblings and their families. Kate loved to swim and in 1962, she installed an in ground pool in her backyard at 1478 Rosemary Lane. She shared her pool frequently with her family and friends and it became a neighborhood gathering place. Many family members and friends remember her for the good times enjoyed at Kate’s house.
In the late 1970’s, former husband Charlie contacted Kate and soon moved back to Memphis. In 1980, Kate and Charlie remarried and lived at 1478 Rosemary Lane until their deaths in 1999.
