2nd Lieutenant Robert Wayne “Rabbit” Bledsoe, O-706116, born 26 Jun 1922, was the son of William Neal and Effie Mae (Crawford) Bledsoe of Wynne, Cross County, in far eastern Arkansas, 50 miles west of Memphis, TN.

In the 1930 census, 7 year-old Wayne is living with his parents Neal and Effie and 4 younger brothers on a farm in rural Searcy, Cross County, Arkansas. By the 1940 census, 17 year-old Wayne is living with his parents Neal and Effie and 9 younger siblings in Wynne, Cross County, Arkansas. His father’s occupation is “Pressing” in a “Cleaning and Pressing Shop”.

The 553rd Bomber Squadron moved to Beaumont-sur-Oise, 22 miles north of Paris, on 1 Oct 1944.
Killed in a Non-Operational (KNO) flight on 29-12-1944 as pilot of B-26G / #44-67827 / AN-'?'. Took off from A-69 Laon/Achiet returning to Beaumont-sur-Oise. Crashed in bad weather near Neuilly-Plaisance, France. 5 KNO.
