Sgt. C. H. Mitchell
Is Presumed Dead
St. Sgt. Claude H. Mitchell, jr., U. S. Army Air forces engineer, previously reported missing in action August 27, is presumed dead, according to reports received by his parents of Loop.
Sgt. Mitchell, who was employed by Purina Mills, enlisted in the Air forces in 1941. He was graduated in air mechanics with the first class at Sheppard field, was appointed instructor and sent to Chanute Field, Ill., and was shipped overseas in June, 1943.
The Mitchells have three other sons in the service, Samuel A. Mitchell, U. S. Army infantry, and Charles H. Mitchell, air ordnance, both in the European theater of war, and Homer A. Mitchell, seaman 1/c, U. S. Navy, somewhere in the Pacific.
