Age 89. Passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Salem Village. Born in Joliet, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle Loetscher. Helen was an active volunteer in her community, and was member and past president of the Ladies Auxillary of Tom E. Hartung American Legion Post #1977 where she was a former Gold Star Mother of the Year. She enjoyed various hobbies including ceramics and quilting. Survived by her daughter, Sharon (Robert "Bob") Webster of New Lenox; one son, William "Bill" (Mary Ann) Ludtke of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren, Joel Ludtke, Brian Scott Webster, Michelle Ludtke-Jackson and Joshua Ludtke; and one great-grandchild. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband, William F. Ludtke (casualty of WWII, during the Battle of the Bulge); granddaughter, Toni Ludtke; parents; siblings, Josie (late Buster) Rogers, Betty Webb, Ray (late Eileen) Loetscher, Ida (late Louis) Bartoli and Mary (late Jack) Keto. Funeral Services for Helen M. Ludtke will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wednesday at Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Jude Parish Building Fund or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 2-6 p.m. at: FRED C.
