Mrs. L. Jean Hoover, 58, of Lafayette, died Nov. 3, 1980 in St. Elizabeth Hospital where she had been hospitalized since Sept. 19. Born at Cutler, she was a graduate of Cutler High School. She worked at Alcoa several years ago. She later was employed as secretary for Ned Helmuth Insurance Co. and Purdue University residence halls.

She was first married in 1945 to Harland Seyfried, who died in 1973. Her second marriage was in 1976 to Earl Hoover, who survives. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was on the Christian Education Board. Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Cynthia Jo (Mrs. Donald) Blanchette of Rome, NY; two stepsons, David Hoover of Denver, CO; and Paul Hoover of West Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Eleanor Hoover of Denver, CO; her parents, William and Nellie Newell of Lafayette; and one sister, Ann (Mrs. Jim) King of Lafayette.

Service Nov. 5 in First Baptist Church, Rev. Thomas E. Clifton officiating. Internment Rest Haven Memorial Park; Landis-Loy Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
