Mrs. Ethel (Badeau) Metzger, 84, of Rt. 3, Elida, died at 1:50 a.m. today in St. Rita's Hospital, after an extended illness. She was the mother of Lt. William Edward Metzger, who was the first Lima serviceman awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in World War II.
She was born in Lima, August 19, 1881, daughter of Joseph Yonge and Marietta Dague Badeau. Her husband, William E., died May 8, 1953.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George (Jeanne) Scholfield, Rt. 3, Elida, and Mrs. Cecil C. (Frances) Fredericks, London, England; one sister, Mrs. Helen B. Risser, Long Beach, Calif., and seven grandchildren.
She was a member of Market Street Presbyterian Church, its Sunshine Society and was a Gold Star Mother.
Friends may call after 8 tonight at Chiles & Sons - Laman Chapel, where arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
