FERMAN E. NUSSBAUM

Ferman E. Nussbaum, son of John and Mary Ellen Nussbaum, was born on May 27, 1883, near Newbern, Ia., and passed away at the age of 73 years and 11 months at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines.

On Dec. 14, 1909, he was united in marriage to Chloe West, who preceded him in death in October, 1954.

To this union five children were born: Corwin of Des Moines, Etha Jones, Wilma Gorog and Norma Nussbaum, with whom he had spent the last five years, all of South Bend, Ind.; a son, Loren, was killed in action in World War II in the Marshall Islands, Feb. 20, 1944.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three sisters, Eva Evans, Myrtle Oxenreider and Anna Hoffman of Chariton, and two brothers, Lawrence and Alfred of Chariton.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Odd Fellows Lodge. Many relatives and friends will mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday, April 23, at 2 p.m. with Downs Funeral Home in charge of the services. The Rev. Lester Hall officiated and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
