Mrs. Holland Dies; Rites Thursday
Mrs. Emma Elvie Holland, 74, of 806 Southeast 6th Street, died Wednesday morning at 3:40 at a local hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at the Southside Church of Christ Thursday at 2:30 P.M., with Bill Jones, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Sturdivant cemetery. Baum-Carlock Funeral Home will direct arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Eubanks, George Crabtree, J. D. and Louis Pratt, Penix Pilgrim and A.B. Pilgrim.
Mrs. Holland was born February 7, 1882 at Baldwin, Mississippi, had resided in Texas most of her life and in this vicinity for 44 years. She was the former Emma Elvie Pratt, and married W.R. Holland in Stephens County, October 7, 1897, and he preceded her in death January 1944.
Survivors are her children, Mrs. Lillie Sowell, Mrs. Oma Bostick, Mrs. Viola Hopkins and L.W. Holland all of Mineral Wells. Mrs. Mamie McMinn of Corpus Christi, Evans Holland of Andrews; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A son, Q. Holland died at Baynard, New Mexico, May, 1955. - obituary
