This is from the Selinsgrove Times Feb 20, 1930 about Robert Wellington Parks:

"Robert W. Parks, will pass his days of retirement here in his native Selinsgrove after forty-two years on service with the Pennsylvania Railroad.

He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs James L. Parks, and brother of Mrs Jesse Krah of Sunbury; James A. Parks, a teacher in York, New York; William L. Parks of the Merganthaler Linotype Co. Brooklyn and Jerome Parks of Glendale Calif.

Robert began his work as a bridge-builder, when the Reading Railroad bridge was being erected across the Susquehanna River from Sunbury to Blue Hill. He continued in that line of employment until he entered the service of the Pennsylvania railroad."

"Back in 1888 he entered the service as a freight brakeman. In 1897 he transferred to passenger brakeman. In 1903 he was promoted to passenger conductor.

During the early part of his career he operated out of Wilkes-Barre and Pottsville terminals. Later, he came to Sunbury to operate local service over the Shamokin Branch."
