Antoine was baptized at St. François d’Assise Catholic Church on 9 December 1768 in (what is now) the New Roads area of Pointe Coupée Parish.
On 24 August 1789, Antoine married Céleste Soileau at Opelousas Post. The couple had eight children - all baptized at Avoyelles beginning in November 1792 - Augustin II, François, Celestin, Pierre, Adélaïde, Louis (Don Louis), Zenon and Victorin.
According to the deposition of J. B. Dozat taken on 27 December 1813 and found in American State Papers regarding the Avoyelles Parish land claim of Augustin, Dozat stated that "from the time he first went to Avoyelles, about fourteen years ago, the claimant (Augustin) has inhabited and cultivated the land constantly, until about fourteen days ago, the time of his death." This places the date of Augustin's death about 13 December 1813. His estate was in succession by 3 January 1814.
