Funeral services were held in Sacred Heart Church yesterday morning for Henry Kossow , veteran of WWI. Rev. James O'Flannagan officiated and sacred selections were sung by Mrs. W.H. Block . Henry Kossow , 56, a
veteran of WWI died in his home at 1447 Evans Avenue Saturday morning following an extended illness. The deceased was a farmer by occupation and had resided in the Gridley district for 27 years. He was a native of Wisconsin . Mr. Kossow was a member of the local Legion post, also affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America. He was the husband of Irene Kossow of Gridley, father of Frederick , Kenneth and James Kossow of Gridley; brother of Peter Kossow of Durham , Ernest of Gridley, Arthur of Paradise, Edwin of Washington, Carl , William and Herman Kossow, Lizzie Trumpler and Tillie Brewer all of Minnesota . There are three grandchildren. Rosary was recited in the Block Chapel Sunday evening. The Block Funeral Home had charge of interment in Gridley-Biggs Cemetery where a military tribute was accorded by members of South Butte Post No, 210 of which the deceased was a member. Lawrence Campbell had charge of the tribute as chaplain and at the close of the service presented Mrs. Kossow with the American Flag that had draped the casket. Dick Hardy and Hubert Meyer served as color bearers and Ed Sevey and J.L. Green as color guard. Casketbearers were J. E. Benedict , Frank Enos, Geo.. Nock, Bernard Frandrup , Charles McElroy and Dr. T. R. Block . The services were largely attended and there was a profusion of floral tributes.
