Jacob Achterhof Passes At Morrison Thursday; Final Rites Saturday

Jacob Achterhof, 60, of 209 West Park Street, Morrison passed away at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Morrison hospital following an illness of five days. He entered the hospital for treatment Monday evening.

Prayer services will be held at the Reynolds Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday ad final rites will be conducted at the Ebenezer Reformed Church at 2 p.m. The Rev, Harry L. Bower, pastor will officiate. Committal will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Achterhof was born in the Netherlands February 25, 1884, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Achterhof. He was reared and educated in Fulton and had been a resident of Morrison for 34 years. He married Harriett Ostema at Morrison August 1, 1910. He had recently been employed as an operator at the Green River Ordnance Plant. He was a member of the Ebenezer Church.

Surviving are three daughters and three sons, Mrs. George (Jeanette) Lartz, Savanna, Mrs. Ted (Eloise) Salminen of Minnesota, Phyllis at home. Raymond of Cambridge, Marvin J., U. S. Navy in southwest Pacific and Bernard, U. S. Army in the European area. There is one grandson, Gil Raymond Achterhof of Savanna.

Funeral Rites Saturday For Jacob Achterhof

Funeral services for Jacob Achterhof, who died Thursday morning at the Morrison Hospital, were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the Reynolds Funeral Home and at 2 at the Ebenezer Reformed Church with the Rev. Harry L. Brower officiating. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery. Appropriate selections were sung by Mrs. Everett Renkes and Mrs. George Huizenga. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. John Buikema and Miss Janet Grierson.

Pallbearers were Burnie Vos, Harry Dykema, Claus Vogel, Ray Engelkens, Gall Decker and Jacob Temple.
