Mrs. Lizzie Bielema, 80, of Thomson, died Sunday morning in Mercy Hospital, Clinton, where she had been a patient for the past ten days. The body reposes in the Sikkema funeral home in Fulton where friends may call until 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday preceded by a 1:45 prayer service in the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. Rev. John Meppelink, pastor of the church will officiate and burial will be in Fulton Cemetery.

Lizzie Achterhof was born in the Netherlands November 14, 1877, the daughter of Ray and Grace Japenga Achterhof. She came to this country at the age of 16. She married Martin Bielema at Fulton January 24, 1901.

They farmed in the Ustick and Morrison vicinity and moved to Fulton many years ago. Upon the death of her husband in 1955, she moved to Thomson to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Bolhous. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Fulton.

Surviving besides her daughter are three sons, Martin of Morton, Roy and Alvin of Grand Rapids, Michigan, 9 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. J. E. Temple of Fulton, three step-sisters, Mrs. Katie Ottens, Mrs. Sikka Poel and Mrs. Alice Wierenga all of Fulton.

Preceded her in death were her husband, one daughter, one brother, one sister, two half-sisters, two-step sisters and her parents.

Mrs. Martin M. Bielema

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin M. Bielema were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton.

Rev. John Meppelink pastor of the church officiated and burial was in Fulton Cemetery.

Mrs. Henry Rozengerg was the organist and pallbearers were all nephews, Rulof Van Buren, Jacob E. Engelkens, Fred Kettler, Alvin Poel, Forest Cady and Joe Wilkins.

Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bielema and daughters, Sandra and Carolyn of Morton, Rev. and Mrs. Derke Bergsma of Cicero, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bielema and son, John and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bielema of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Mrs. Lizzie Bielema of Thomson, 84, widow of Martin M. Bielema, former deputy sheriff of Fulton, died Sunday morning at 4:10 o'clock in Mercy Hospital, Clinton, Iowa, where she had been a patient for 10 days.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Fulton Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. John Meppelink officiating. The service was preceded by a family prayer service in the church basement, and burial was in the Fulton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Sikkema Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant daughter; one brother, and one sister, Jacob Achterhof, Mrs. Ed Engelksen; two half sisters, Mrs. Albert Post, Mrs. Alvin VanVuren; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Jack Armheim and Mrs. Louis Kamphuis.
