George, age 88, of La Crosse, passed away at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born the son of John & Louisa (Goyette) Dikeman. He married Alice Jensen on June 11, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2000. George was a driver for the La Crosse City Street Department for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 339th Engineers. George loved to play cards and cribbage at the Harry J. Olson Center. He enjoyed gambling and took frequent bus trips to the casinos. In his younger years, George was an avid sportsman and deer hunter. He is survived by his children, Kathryn Gruen, Terry (Kathy) Dikeman, George Dikeman and Rodney Dikeman, all of La Crosse, WI; three sisters, Louise Scott, Evelyn Eno and Frances Konetchy, and a brother, Clifford, all of La Crosse, WI; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Donna Rattle.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Chesebro; and three brothers, John, Richard and Frank. Funeral services were held at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, La Crosse. Sister Fran Browning FSPA officiated and burial, with military honors were held
