Born Aug. 20, 1927, in Augusta County, she was a daughter of the late Amos B. and Effie Belle Rodeffer Diehl.
She was a homemaker, a babysitter, employee of the former Daylight Laundry of Waynesboro and a member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class and Waynesboro Senior Citizens.
She loved her family, friends, was very strong in her faith, was a collector of coins, angels, enjoyed gardening and had a passion for children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" H. Ball, a son, Garry Wayne Ball, a sister, Geneva Dennison, two brothers, Benjamin Diehl and Samuel Diehl.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, David L. Ball and his wife, Pat, Ronnie R. Ball and his wife, Sharon, of Waynesboro; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Myers Ball Lam and her husband, Bruce, of Penn Laird; a sister, Annabell Collins; two brothers, Garland Diehl and his wife, Faye, William Diehl, all of Waynesboro, six grandchildren, Jessica D. Ball, Stephanie Ball Karaffa and her husband, John, Barbara A. Ball, Brittney R. Ball, Candice B. Gordon and her husband, Gerald, Shannon B. Lam and her husband, Jason, four great-grandchildren, Quentin Gray, Nathan Gordon, Jameson Lam and Savanah Gochenour.
She also leaves a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at West Waynesboro Church of Christ by Phil Forehand. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren Church Cemetery in Weyers Cave.
Active pallbearers will be Gene Kline, J. Kent Hite, John Hensley, Fred Miller, Lewis Gurkin and Andy Shaw.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class of West Waynesboro Church of Christ.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Playground Fund of West Waynesboro Church of Christ, 2212 Cortland St., Waynesboro, VA 22980, or the United Cerebral Palsy Association, 10011 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
