Mr. Diehl spent most of his life in Rockingham County but had been making his home in Waynesboro for the past several years. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Effie Rodeffer of Rockland Mills.
He also leaves three daughters, Mrs. Geneva Dennison, of Grottoes; Miss Anna Belle Diehl, at home, and Mrs. William (Audrey) Ball, of Waynesboro; and two sons, Billy Ray Diehl and Garland Diehl, both at home, also survive. One son, Samuel Harvey Diehl, preceded him in death.
Surviving also are four brothers; Trosel, of Bridgewater; Noah S., of Grottoes, and Oscar M. and Russell J. Diehl, both of Harrisonburg; Mrs. Frank Pearl Forren and Mrs. Thurston Howdyshell, also of Harrisonburg, also survive.
A son of the late Harvey J. and Margaret Wampler Diehl, he was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed last night.
