Son of Peter E. Harmon and Nancy E. Lawson Harmon.

Newton is living in Stohrville, Kansas in 1880 with his parents. By 1890 they are living in Township 11, Canadian, Oklahoma. And the 1900 census puts him in Wellston, Lincoln, Oklahoma. This is where he married Nellie.

Newton and Nellie made the trip after his father in 1900 to Cheyenne in a covered wagon. Upon arrival in Cheyenne during the evening they stopped at Milo Bulingame's saloon for directions. As Newton reached the door a shot rang out and a man fell through the door at his feet. Newton returned to the wagon and told Nellie they could find the way to Peter's house without directions.

Newton and Nellie had 6 children and lived in Oklahoma within 3 miles of Dempsey Cemetery where they are buried.
