After years of farming, he and Helen lived in Borger, Texas and then settled in Oklahoma City to be near their grandchildren. Shorty returned to the farm and Cheyenne after Helen's death and worked for A.L. West Lumber.
He later married Lois Wilson and they enjoyed many years of bowling, dancing, RV Clubbing, working with the Senior Citizens' Center and the Cheyenne Park buildings, before her death. He later left Cheyenne to live with his oldest daughter, Mary Ann and her husband, Wilburn in Midwest City.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Helen, daughter Janice, parents Nell and Newton Harmon, brothers Eddie and Paul and sisters Daisy, Ruth and Lorene, his second wife Lois and his stepson Terry Wilson.
He is survived by daughters Mary Ann and her husband Wilburn Lackey, Sharon and her husband Joe Muzarol, son-in-law Roy Carterman, Stepsons Jerry and his wife Charlene Wilson and David and his wife Marilyn Wilson, grandchildren Wathena Branham, Brent Lackey, Kristi Singleton, Debbie Dailey, six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Shorty lived a long, full, eventful life and will be missed by many. He started his new life on his new birthday, one hundred years later...June 25, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the Cheyenne Senior Citizens' Center be made in his memory.
