Giles and Rebecca lived in Daviess County Missouri for five years after they married on 12/31/1840. They then moved same time as his father Joseph Parman to Gentry County Howard Township Missouri.
Giles and Rebecca had twelve children. Giles fought in the Civil war between the states. He farmed and his son's took up the farm while he was away at war. Giles died six weeks before his youngest son Giles Franklin was born.
He was buried in Mize Cemetery two miles from his farm.
