George Perman was age 23 in the 1850 Allen, Gentry, Missouri census with Lydia, age 17. Giles was age 2 and Margaret J., 1. Peter Perman, age 21, was also with them.

George Parman was in Clinton Township, Douglas County, Kansas Territory, in the 1859 voter census. He had settled in the territory in 1858 and was listed with a family of 8, with 6 minors.

Several Civil War records show that he enlisted in September of 1863 in Co. A of the 9th Kansas Cavalry and mustered out in June of 1865. Most of the records record his name as Parman, but a Civil War headstone record lists his name as Perman. This record lists his burial at Clinton, but does not record a death date.

A Kansas Civil War Soldiers record lists George's residence as Bloomington, which was a small town in Douglas County. The town site of Bloomington is now part of the Clinton Dam & Reservoir in Douglas County. This area flooded many times before the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers built the reservoir. It is possible that the grave of this Civil War soldier and his family members were lost.

Family information records George's death on March 21, 1865. The muster-out date recorded in a Civil War record states he mustered out of the 9th Kansas Cavalry in June of 1865.
