Abe Issac Rickman of Burns died March 25, 2006. He was 85.
Funeral services were held at La Follette's Funeral Chapel on March 30. Graveside services were held March 31 at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville.
Mr. Rickman was born July 19, 1920, in Held to Thomas and Lucy (Kennedy) Rickman. He ranched with his father and brother, Ray, on Bear Creek until 1956. He was married June 10, 1951, to JoAnn Obernolte in Bend. In 1956, the couple bought a ranch in Izee where they lived until 1990. They then moved to the G.I. ranch where they continued their ranching career. In 1995, they moved to Burns. Mr. Rickman continued to ranch and was very active until his death.
He enjoyed hunting, raising quarter horses and cattle ranching. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Mr. Rickman is survived by three sons, Claude and his wife, Christine, of Powell Butte; Bruce and his wife, Wendy; and Steve and his wife, Kristy, all of Burns; sisters, Betty Jo Norton of Mitchell, Luceill Cherry of Prineville, Joyce Ferrarin of Terrebonne; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, JoAnn, one brother and two sisters.
Arrangements were in care of the Prineville Funeral Home. In lieu flowers, contributions may be made to SODA of Harney County. (Blue Mountain Eagle newspaper, John Day, Oregon)
