Lucille Cherry, of Prineville, died Saturday of natural causes. She was 90.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lower Mitchell Cemetery in
Mitchell. Her grandsons, Pastor Bob Westfall and Pastor Mike Phay, will
officiate.
Mrs. Cherry was born June 1, 1916, in Held to Thomas and Lucy (Kennedy) Rickman.
She graduated from Crook County High School in 1936. She married George Seaton
in 1940. She later married Gardner Cherry in 1953.
Mrs. Cherry worked as a cook at Mitchell School from 1958 to 1966. She then
worked as a clerk at Norton's General Store until she retired in 1982. In 1990,
she was named Eastern Oregon Pioneer Queen, and in 1993, she served as the Grand
Marshall for the Wheeler County Fair. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing,
crocheting and spending time with family.
Survivors include two sons, Dick Seaton, of Fresno, Calif., and Bob Seaton, of
Prineville; two daughters, Sue Delisle, of Prineville, and Joanne Cole, of Bend;
two sisters, Betty Jo Norton, of Mitchell, and Joyce Fearrien, of Terrebonne; 13
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, two brothers and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mitchell Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 186,
Mitchell, OR 97750.
