John Quincy Allen was born October 22, 1922 in Leflore County, Mississippi to Nathaniel Allen, Sr., and Nancy Cooper Allen. He married Earlean Knight Allen in 1946 and they were parents to 11 children. He became a minister in 1953 and pastored Elizabeth Baptist Church and Philadelphia Baptist Church in the Mississippi Delta. He moved to Muskegon, Michigan in 1966 and was associate pastor for both New Hope Baptist Church and Bethesda Baptist Churches.
