MRS. ANNA OLSEN BERKEY
Anna Olsen was born in Aven, Norway on September 14th, 1855.
She came with her parents to America in the fall of 1869, spending the winter at Nebraska City, and in the spring of the following year came to Spring Creek, which was later known as Hebron, Nebraska.

On December 27th, 1876 she was united in marriage with James Monroe Berkey at Hebron, Nebr., and they went immediately to homestead south of Davenport, where they lived until 1912, when they retired from the farm to the present home in Davenport.

Mrs. Berkey united with the Methodist Church of Davenport early in its history and continued a faithful member, and interested in all its activities. She was a charter member of the Davenport Womans' Club and active in its benevolent
and social work, and vitally interested in all civic affairs of the community.

Mrs. Berkey departed this life at her home in Davenport on March 21, 1935, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 7 days.

She is survived by her husband, James M. Berkey and the following children: Clarence J. Berkey, Spokane, Wash.; Myrtle M. Meyer, Portland, Oregon; Cora M. Crosby,
North Platte, Nebr.; Charles C. Berkey, Spokane, Wash.; Harrison M. Berkey, Spokane, Wash.
She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, two brothers, Gunder Olsen of Portland Oregon, and Norval Olsen of California.

A son, Earl Berkey died at Union Medical College, Peking, China, on May 26th, 1924.

Mrs. Berkey, was truly of the sturdy pioneer stock of Nebraska, and acquainted with the early hardships and privations that were so much a part of the development of
our state, but through it all she has maintained that beautiful and simple faith that could only be sustained
by a steadfast reliance upon a kind and assuring providence.
She lived a long, busy and useful life, has been a devoted wife and helpmate; a loyal, loving and helpful mother and grandmother, ever a part of the joys and sorrows of
her many friends and loved ones, and with the greatest joy attained from life, in time and effort dedicated to others.
The example of her beautiful life of sacrifice and service, of loyalty to family and friends, will ever be a joyful memory.

Another life has come to a close, but a beautiful memory will ever be a reality, to her sorrowing loved ones and a host of friends and neighbors.

"Somewhere back of the Sunset,
Where loveliness never dies,
She lives in a land of glory,
With the blue and the gold of
the skies.
And we, who have known and loved
her,
And whose passing has brought
sad tears,
Will cherish her memory always,
To brighten the drifting years."
