The Hon. James I. FELLOWS is a grandson of John FELLOWS, a clergyman, and the son of Israel FELLOWS, a ship builder and merchant, and was born at Granville, N.S. July 30th, 1828. His education was received at Horton Academy, For many years prior to his departure for the old country he was well known in N.B. and N.S., his home latterly being in St. John. Hon. Fellows may be termed the father of the red granite industry of New Brunswick and he also engaged in the development of coal measures of Nova Scotia. It was the popular idea when Mr. Fellows removed to England that he took with him a large amount of wealth. Such, however, was not the case. During some 12 years that he has lived in London, he has steadily improved his position socially and otherwise. Mr. Fellows was appointed a member of the Legislative Council of New Brunswick on March 11th, 1891. Mr. Fellows has been twice married - in 1850 to Elizabeth ALLAN, d/o Thos. ALLAN, Esq.; and in 1871 to Jane Hamlin CRAIN d/o J.R. CRAIN, Esq., St. John, He has a residence at 243 Germain St., St. John and 'Saxon Hall' at 56 Holborn Viaduct, London, England. He is a member of the Junior Carleton Club and of the Royal London Yacht Club.
