Daniel Gertzberg, age 86, of Venezio Avenue in Guilderland, NY, died Thursday evening, February 21, 2002 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Mr. Gertzberg was born in Schenectady, NY and graduated from the Albany High School. He had been the owner and proprietor for more than 40 years of the Gold Star Bedding Company on Bassett and Franklin Streets in downtown Albany. He was a member of the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany and was a 50-year member of Albany City Lodge #540 Knights of Pythias in Albany. He was married to Lillian Kessler Gertzberg until her passing in 1998.
He is survived by a son, Marvin Gertzberg of Slingerlands and two daughters, Aileen Fern Gertzberg and Nancy Beth Gertzberg. Brother of Rosalyn Hanson of Albany; grandfather of 4; and great-grandfather of 3. He was predeceased by a brother, Nathan Gertzberg and a sister, Gussie Gertzberg. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Independent Benevolent Cemetery on Fuller Road in Guilderland.
