Sargeant Skipper was undoubtedly my favorite dog of all that I have owned. My sister-in-law delivered him at her house in Douglasville and gave him to me as a house warming gift after I bought my Mableton condo in 1985. I still remember him sitting on my left shoulder as we drove home on June 21, 1986, the day I was able to get him. He was very small, only weighing 4 oz when born. He never weighed more than 6lbs 10oz.
Skipper was the perfect dog. He never caused any problems. I fed him each night by hand and walked him about 9pm. I had a special collar with Navy anchors on it for him to wear. He loved to walk and also wear sweaters. Skipper traveled everywhere with me and traveled to several states over his lifetime. He never barked at anyone and was always quiet in hotels when I left him in the room by himself. I took him almost everywhere with me.
He died in my Powder Springs house on Feb 6, 2002 weighing a little over 4 pounds. It was a very sad time for me. RIP Skipper!

MY FOREVER FRIEND, SKIPPER
I know that it must be different,
now that I am no longer here.
I realize how much I was loved
and how all of you did care.

I know it will be hard at first
when you look around for me.
Expecting to find me in my bed
or beside my favorite tree.

Someday you will begin to see,
although it'll take some time,
the happy times you shared with me,
the memories are yours and mine.

I'll remember you, my family,
and how much you meant to me.
So please don't grieve and don't be sad,
it was just my time to leave.
