ROYAL CENTER — Final rites for Robert A. Newell, 75, of Royal Center, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Royal Center Methodist Church. The Rev. George Hostetter will officiate. Newell, a retired farmer, died at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. A member of Royal Center Methodist Church, he had resided in that community for 50 years. Born Aug. 29, 1891, in Blue Grass, Ill., he was the son of Robert and Harriet Haas Newell. His first marriage was in September of 1909 to Allie May Hufford, who died in December of 1941. On Feb. 8,1947, he married Josephine Tinkle, who survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Donnell of Kokomo, Vernon of Plymouth, Paul of Phoenix, Ariz., and Harry and Kenneth, both of Rt. 2, Royal Center; a daughter, Mrs. Donnabelle Kauffman of Royal Center; a stepson, Dwight Tinkle of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Metzger of Pyrmont, and Mrs. Alta Smeltzer of Delphi; a brother, William, of Cutler; 23 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Harrison Funeral Home in Royal Center or an hour prior to services at the church.
