Suggested edit: Final funeral rites for Thomas F Kennedy, 69, Gary pioneer and democratic leader, who succumbed Saturday following a long illness, were held in St Mark's church at 9 o'clock this morning when requiem high mass was said by Father Joseph Ryder. Burial was in Mt Mercy Cemetery. He had been a resident of the city since 1911, entering the heating and plumbing business. Eleven years later he engaged in the real estate and home building business. He erected and sold 165 homes in the Glen Park residential district where he made his home. He was a member of Gary Elks lodge, Real Estate board and Kiwanis club. Surviving are the widow, Mary; two sons, Thomas Jr., a sports writer on The Gary Post-Tribune and William, also of Gary; four brothers, James of Montreal, Patrick of Kansas City, Joseph of Gary and William of Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Anna Fierek of Indianapolis and one grandchild.
