Mary Mikolanda, (nee Krosky), age 96, of Lorain, died Friday August 5, 2005 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following an brief illness.

Mrs. Mikolanda was born June 19, 1909 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Lorain since her childhood.

Mary was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lorain where she was a member of the Women’s Circle and the Grandmother’s Club. She also served as a volunteer with the church’s Meals-On-Wheels Program.

In her earlier years she had been employed as a seamstress with the Richman Brothers Clothing Company.

Her hobbies included bingo, playing cards, and interior design.

Survivors include her son Glen O. Mikolanda of Lorain; daughter Marcia Collins also of Lorain; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters Helen Vangeloff of Saint Petersburg, Florida; Doris Kerekes of North Port, Florida; and a brother Raymond Krosky of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otto in 1987; by sisters Jay Sabota and Kathleen “Kay” Kovacs; and by brothers John and Mike Krosky.

Friends may call Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway –Lorain. The Reverend Jimmy W. Madsen, co-pastor of First Evangelical Church in Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park – Amherst Township.
