The Rev. John M. Strzalka, 86, of Lake Villa, Ill., formerly of Wadsworth, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Grande Prairie, Kenosha, Wis., surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Peckville, Pa., the son of the late John and Nellie (Jover) Strzalka. John married Elaine Buraczynski on Oct. 27, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wis.

A graduate of Blakely High School, he completed studies to become a priest at Savanarola Seminary, Scranton, Pa. Ordained by Bishop Bonczak in Milwaukee, Wis., John served as a priest within the Polish National Catholic Church for many years throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. He was an accomplished organist and choir director, and worked as a piano instructor for most of his life. A published writer in numerous community and church papers, he was known for his unique way of finding beauty and humor in everyday life.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Strzalka, Lake Villa, Ill.; children, Mark Strzalka, Kathleen Rindskopf and Suzanne (Dave) Lange; a brother, Frank Strzalka; a sister, Anella Fry; and three grandchildren, Alex, Ross and Evan Rindskopf.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Regina Yaron Swika.
