Marian Regina Yaron Swika, 83, Peckville, died Saturday morning in Moses Taylor Hospital from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was the widow of John Yaron, who died in 1975, and Stephen Swika, previous owner of S & S Amusements.

Born Jan. 28, 1927, in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late John Strzalka and Anella Jover Strzalka. She was a member of and past organist for St. Adalbert's Polish National Catholic Church.

A graduate of East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, now East Stroudsburg University, she taught high school in Johnson City, N.Y. She also taught locally and gave piano lessons.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed knitting.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Laurels Balanced Care Facility in Peckville, Mid-Valley Hospital and Moses Taylor Hospital. Your kindness and loving way toward our mother will not be forgotten.

She is survived by four children, Ruth Yaron McCloskey and husband, Dr. Robert McCloskey, Peckville; Linda Yaron Emondi and husband, Bob, and son, Vince, Myerstown; John Yaron, Archbald, and Dr. David Yaron, Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, twins Fred and the Rev. John Cicilioni and Robert McCloskey; a sister, Anella Fry, Montdale; two brothers, the Rev. John Strzalka, Ill., Frank Strzalka, Fla.; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Hedley W. Mason Funeral Home, 436 Main St., Peckville, with Mass to be celebrated at 10 in St. Adalbert's Polish National Catholic Church, 515 Mary St., Dickson City.
