Edmund immigrated in the early 1860's after the death of his parents, Patrick and Margaret Walsh Wallace. He married Mary Comiskey in 1869. They were parents of 6 children who survived infancy.

In the early years, he was a saloon keeper. In due time, he became Vice-President of Southern Illinois National Bank of East Saint Louis, IL. Edmund was also Vice-President of Citizens Saving and Trust Company there in East Saint Louis. He became very wealthy and owned quite a bit of real estate.

Edmund was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a fraternal organization for Irish Catholics. In his will, he was quite generous with the schools maintained by four local Roman Catholic churches, also with his two surviving sons and two surviving daughters, as well as his widowed brother, Patrick.

Edmund was nearly 82 when he died of heart failure. His funeral was held at Sacred Heart Church on 11 Dec 1920 with Fr. Gilmartin officiating. He was my great-great grandmother's brother and a great-grandson of Staker Wallace, who was my 5th great-grandfather.
