CLEO EVANS died peacefully in the comfort and dignity of Sunrise Senior Living, Seal Beach on February 4. Formerly of Long Beach and Downey, CA, he was the devoted husband of over 73 years to Mary and the adored father of Janet (Howard) and Judy (Bill).

Cleo and his twin sister, Leo were born in Mesa, Arizona and in 1931, the family moved to Maywood, where Evans Tank Lines became a highly respectful carrier of petroleum products.

Cleo was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942 and proudly served in the European Theatre, until being honorably discharged in January of 1946. After his father died suddenly in 1948, Cleo became General Manager and President of Evans Tank Lines and later Evans Dedicated Systems. An active member of California Trucking Association for over 60 years, he was honored to be President in 1981. He was also President of the Maywood Chamber of Commerce and Maywood "Man of the Year" in 1963. He was an active member and President of Downey Toastmasters, as well as being a 33 degree Mason.

He is survived not only by his loving wife, daughters and sons-in-law, but his beloved 4 grandchildren and 8 (soon to be 9) great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Eric-Stig Engblom and granddaughter, Jacque Endresen.

Arrangements under the direction of Rose Hills Mortuary, Whittier, CA. Viewing is Tuesday, February 10 from 4-8 PM with services February 11 at 9:00 in the SkyRose Chapel with graveside services to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Ronald McDonald House, Long Beach; Optimal Hospice or Gospel of Asia.
