Clarence E. Schell, 83, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Mifflintown and Lancaster County, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

Born on Sept. 4, 1930, in Juniata County, he is the son of the late Homer David Schell and Beulah Mae Shirk.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Thelma Mae Baumgardner, whom he married on Jan. 22, 1954.

He is survived by: his children, Gregory Schell and his wife, Kay, of Elm, Cathy Hoffmier and her husband, Tim, of Dillsburg, and Brian Schell and his wife, Sharon, of Lewistown; sisters, Arlene Wagner, of San Francisco, Calif., and Sandra (Sandy) Deen, of Port Royal; brother, Charles Schell, of McAlisterville; grandchildren Laura Weaver, Jon and Andy Schell, Michelle and Camilla Fox, Ashley Britt, Kristel Bell, and James Schware; two great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Schell.

Clarence was the founder and previous owner of Buckell Plastics. He retired in 1996. He was a previous member and treasurer of the Manheim Grace Brethren Church, where he also served as a member of the Boys Brigade and the construction team. He also was a member of Penryn Fire Police.

He was self taught and could do anything he set his mind to especially with little or no resources. He was a machinist, electrician, plumber, carpenter, roofer, car mechanic, oil burner repairman, sign maker, farmer, block layer, a plastic fabricator and inventor. He was a master of all trades.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Pastor John Walters officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery.

Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 123 S. Sparks St., State College, PA 16801.
